Collections in Kelly Library

Records for all items in the following collections are in the HAL Online Catalog.

The Reference Collection is on the main floor of Kelly Library. It is for in-library use and contains general encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, subject encyclopedias and other reference works. Kelly Library subscribes to many online reference works accessible from the library web page for current students and employees..

The Circulating Collection is on the top floor of Kelly Library. These books may be checked out by college or community members with current borrower ID cards.

Video, DVD, CD, and Audio-Cassette collections are housed on the main floor. Items in these collections have circulation restrictions. Refer to the Circulation Policies page or ask at the Circulation Desk for specific policies.

The Children's Collection is on the top floor of Kelly Library. This collection primarily supports the teacher education program of the College.

Government Documents are located on the bottom floor of Kelly Library. This collection consists of microforms which may be used with the reader-printers which are located on the main floor of the library, and print documents which may be checked out. Electronic access to online documents is available through the library's Government Documents web page and the HAL Online Catalog.

Periodicals in print format are located on the main floor of Kelly Library. Current issues are shelved in the periodicals alcove. Kelly Library subscribes to approximately 500 print journals. Another 13,000+ journals are available via online databases for current students and employees. A title list of these journals is available at Online Journals on the library web page.

Microforms, including microfiche and microfilm, are in cabinets on the main floor of the library. This collection contains periodicals and newspapers. Reader-printers are available for reading and printing from microforms.

Archives and Special Collections, located on the top floor of Kelly Library, contains documents important in the history of the college and the region and the archives and documents of the Holston Conference of the Methodist Church. Access to these collections is available by appointment with the archivist. See the Archives and Special Collections web page for specific information.
