Faction of Fools Present Commedia dell' Arts on Emory & Henry College Campus

America's well-known Faction of Fools touring theatre, based in Washington, D.C., will perform Shakespeare's greatest love story, "Romeo and Juliet," Tuesday, Feb. 25.

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. in Wiley Hall Auditorium.  In addition the college's theatre students will participate in a master class with the artists.

The production was adapted by Paul Reisman and Matthew W. Wilson, and will be directed by Mr. Wilson.

Faction of Fools' goal is to preserve and promote the Renaissance theatre style of Commedia dell'Arts by representing its heritage and exploring its future.  Commedia dell' Arts began in the early 16th century and quickly spread throughout Europe, creating a lasting influence on Shakespeare, Moliere, opera, vaudeville, contemporary musical theatre, and improv comedy.

Commedia dell' Arts is identified by its physical comedy, use of masks and recognizable theatre typography.
