Tammy Sheets has been called the heart and soul of the Centralized Student Assistance (CSA) office. Her hard work and dedication to Emory & Henry College has earned her the January Blue & Gold Staff Award.
Sheets has worked at the college for nine years, and she currently serves as the associate registrar.
In her nomination, her co-workers singled out her determination to go above and beyond the call of her daily duty. One example of this happened at a recent Lyceum event where a student worker was unable to help scan students in and out of the event. Without missing a beat, Sheets volunteered to come back to campus to make sure that students attending the event received the proper credit.
When asked what winning the award means to her, Sheets mentioned what an honor it was to be spotlighted by her peers.
“When a co-workers notices the good job one does it is a very special recognition,” said Sheets. “Co-workers aren't obligated to praise one's work, so when they do, one know it is genuine and heartfelt. For those things I feel particularly special to receive this award. I thank those who recognized me.”
Dave Haney, vice-president of academic affairs, praised Sheets for her “technical expertise, excellent customer service skills, intelligence and common sense.”
When she is not helping students or staff, Sheets is a mom of two very activity young men. She spends much of her time attending sporting events, and as she says, “enjoying ever minute of it.” She is also active with her church youth group and she loves to spend time with family and friends.
The Blue & Gold Staff Award is given on a monthly basis and is sponsored by the Emory & Henry College Staff Affairs Council. Winners of the award are given the option of a cash prize or a paid vacation day.
If you know of a staff member who has gone above and beyond the call of duty, you can nominate him/her by sending an email to Human Resources Manager Joey Sword at.
