About the E&H Outdoor Program

If you like the outdoors then you belong here. The Emory & Henry College Outdoor Program is comprised of both students and full time faculty who share a love of adventure and the natural world.

Surrounded by a number of the Southeast’s best rivers and mountains, it’s no surprise that many people come to Emory & Henry College specifically for its plethora of outdoor opportunities. Emory & Henry’s campus is located within a 20-minute drive of Damascus, one of the coolest towns on the Appalachian Trail. From Damascus you can easily access Mt. Rogers National Recreation Area, George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, and Grayson Highlands State Park. The Holston River, a class II+ river, also runs through Damascus and generally provides year-round kayaking for new boaters.

Numerous Outdoor Adventure Trips

The Emory & Henry Outdoor Program hostrs trips roughly every weekend and does not require that participants have any previous outdoor experience. In fact our only requirements are that you come with a positive attitude and an open mind to enjoy the natural splendor and tackle challenges that the outdoor can provide.
